Hello lovely human.
My ‘word of the year’ in 2021 was ‘kindness’. Picking a word - almost like a theme or mantra - is something I’ve been doing for a few years now, inspired by the Mamamia Out Loud podcast ladies. I’ve had ‘adventure’, ‘kindness’ and a few others now. But for 2022 I’ve settled on ‘sustain’. Partly because I feel like I’ve hit a really great place creatively, mentally and physically, and partly because I just feel like we could all do with just a bit of normality and sustenance these days.
How quickly this year has evolved into 2021 2.0… or is it 2020 3.0? I don’t even know any more! My husband tested positive first, and then me, and now our son. But with enforced time at home comes the luxury of being able to sit and create. To be with my thoughts, without much interruption. That said… we can’t get five seconds into a sentence without a little voice piping up! He’s a wonderful little help, and we’ve been making some art together, too.
In the past week, I’ve had a huge burst of creativity, painting so many beautiful ideas that I’ve been wanting to get on paper for so long. SO! With that, comes a new range of designs, now added to the Pattern Library. Access is free, and available to anyone. I’d love to hear what you think of the new work? All prints are available for exclusive or non-exclusive licensing.
And wait for it - there’s more coming. I’ve got so many pieces I’m working on at the moment, and have several more patterns in the works.
I’ve had a few custom pattern enquiries in the past week as well. It’s a service I’m thrilled to be able to offer, to create a unique, exclusive pattern for brands and individuals.
If you’d like to see more of the creative process, the Darling Creative Instagram feed or Facebook page is the place to head. I post fairly regularly, including sneak peeks of patterns, and ideas playing around in my head (and on paper).
Until next time.
Pip x
