Working with beautiful brands
When you see a dream come to life - it’s hard to compare. In 2020, when our son was born, we had no idea what was around the corner for us as first-time parents, or what would become of the world… I’d invested in cloth nappies from well before he was born, entranced by the gorgeous patterns. Plus, we wanted to leave as little ‘footprint’ as we could, knowing the output disposables can have.
As the world changed around us, those pretty prints designed by Cass Deller brought me a lot of joy in times that were really hard. No coffee dates with friends, no mothers groups, and very little contact made ‘mothering’ hard. So naturally, I developed an emotional attachment to cloth nappies…! Mmm, yes. And I know I’m not alone.
So when Vashti from Nest Nappies approached me to design an exclusive print for Nest Nappies x Seedling, I jumped at the opportunity. Modern cloth nappies (MCNs) were what brought me into surface pattern design through Cass Deller’s Surface Pattern Design course, and I was so excited to be able to design for one of the businesses and communities that got us through the pandemic.
Nest Nappies is Australia’s longest running Cloth Nappy Shop, and I was so humbled and thrilled to work with them!
And so came ‘Jacaranda Terrace’, a whimsical floral design featuring heavy bunches of the blooms, some gently floating, and mixed in with friendly bees and a cheeky little inchworm. When Vashti and Sonya first showed me those beautiful prints, ready for precious little people, I was so excited I cried…!
Cloth nappies and the reusable community were, and are so special to me - and I’m so pleased to say I’ve squirrelled a couple of the Limited Edition pieces away for our next bub, when they join us later this year.
