How on EARTH are we nearing the end of the year (again?) Years ago, someone explained to me the older you get, the faster time goes. If you’re five, one year is a fifth of your life - but at 35, even a month feels like the blink of an eye.
Monty joined our little family in July, and he is absolutely divine. He has brought such a calm presence to our home, and is more than happy to tinker away in his bouncer while I paint, attend to admin or whatever needs to be done around the house. He’s an absolute dream.
I’ve said to a few people recently that life has been a bit like ‘Flight of the Bumblebees’ lately… we had Monty on a day we were supposed to be inspecting a potential home (which my mum and sister went to for us!), saw the property once when he was a week old, then bought and moved in… I can’t say I would recommend moving homes with two little children, but it’s certainly been an adventure!
As part of the move though… an exciting development. I will soon have my own dedicated studio! I’ve long wanted a space that’s my own, where I can leave paints and other creative endeavours in the midst of their creation. To date, most of my work has been done at the kitchen table or tucked into the corner of a room where there’s just enough space. Ohhhh the possibilities! We’ll be relocating our laundry in order to make it happen - my husband is so incredibly supportive of my work, I am so fortunate he just ‘sees’ what makes me so happy.
‘Loved ones’
A beautiful commissioned piece, featuring protea, banksia, wattle, gum, kangaroo paw and Geraldton wax, delivered this week to 3P Studio in Milton, Brisbane.
In the meantime though, I’ve been beetling away finishing some new works which will soon go on display at Indooroopilly Library. Three or four smaller acrylic works, and two large pieces will be there from November 1 to 30 December, and I’ll also have a selection of watercolours, prints, tea towels and greeting cards on display. Everything will be available to purchase via my website - but please pop along and see them in person! I’d love if you’d let me know you’ve visited.
On November 5, you’ll find me at Sundayz Markets at Rocks Riverside Park in Jindalee, including gifts, homewares and Christmas cards. Goodness knows - the big day is just about eight weeks away! Commission options are limited - so please get in touch if you have something in mind in the coming months.
